John Robert Burt died Sunday, December 20th, at the V.N.A. Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was a resident of Green Ridge Manor, Scranton.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Burt. He took a deep pride in being the son of a former publisher of the Main Line Times and bragged often about his mother’s delicious cooking, especially her macaroni and cheese. He loved talking politics, reading mystery stories and watching DVDs.
John did not have an easy life but was always grateful for the things he had. Although his family members lived a distance from him, he always kept in touch and never ended a call without saying, “I love you.” He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his sister, Kathie.
Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn Boyd and husband Robert of Barnegat, N.J., a brother Paul Burt of Manahawkin, N.J., nephews and nieces.
Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Moses Taylor Hospital, 700 Quincy Avenue, Scranton, PA 18510.
