Kathryn (Jones) Kingdom, of the Tripps Park section of West Scranton, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at home. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Kingdom. Wed on July 14, 1979, the couple celebrated 36 years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Reese Hill and Mary Cooney Jones. Upon graduation from both the former St. Patrick’s Elementary School and West Scranton Central Catholic High School, Kathryn earned her Bachelors Degree from Marywood College. A longtime teacher at St. Patrick’s Elementary School in West School, she currently worked at The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania.
She enjoyed traveling, and was an avid reader and a phenomenal cook. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish.
She is also survived by her adoring daughters, Heather Statsman and husband Rick of S. Abington Twp., and Brianna Kingdom of Scranton; her three loving grandchildren, Aidan, Sophia and Charlotte; her sister, Mary Beth Cawley and husband Daniel of Missouri City, Texas, Reisa Ferrant and husband Thomas of Abington, and Atty. William T. Jones and wife Dr. Margaret Billings Jones of Abington Twp.; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; aunts; and cousins.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 10:15AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with an 11:00AM Mass of Christian at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
