Roszella (Rose) Turner, age 74, of Pittston, and formerly of Duryea, passed away Monday evening surrounded by her family, after an illness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Elwood (Woody) Turner, Sr., on November 7, 2013.
Born on December 10, 1940, daughter of the late Carl and Ruth Lahr Berger, Rose was a graduate of the former Duryea High School. A career sewing machine operator, she retired in June from Golden Technologies in Old Forge. She was also a longtime member of the Langcliffe Presbyterian Chuch in Avoca. An amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be dearly missed by anyone who knew her.
She is survived by her five children, Elwood Turner, Jr., and wife Robin, Carl Turner, Michael Turner and wife Donna, Dawn Winsock and Sandra Turner, all of Pittston; her brother, Carl Berger and wife Marie of S.C.; her sisters-in-law, Sally Kane and Edna Chadwick; her brother-in-law, Larry Kelly; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Siblings, Raymond Berger, Joan Pradel and Ellen Renfer, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank Linda Antosh and the entire staff of Celtic Hospice for their tremendous care and compassion during such a difficult time.
Funeral services, to be conducted by Rev. Richard Rexrode, Pastor of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ, are scheduled for Thursday at 7:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Private interment, Langcliffe Cemetery in Avoca.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-7:00PM at the funeral home.
