Sara Wincovitch, age 86, of Taylor, died Saturday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, after an illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Joseph J. Wincovitch, on April 4, 1999.
Born in Lilesville, North Carolina, on May 4, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Stonewall and Mary Hazel McCaskill Harrington. Along with raising her family, she remained a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Taylor. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed both hunting and fishing with her husband. She was an active member of the Taylor Senior Citizens. Passing away Saturday surrounded by her loving family, she will forever be missed.
She is survived by her four sons, Joseph Wincovitch and wife Audrey of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, James Wincovitch and wife Paulette of Moosic, Christopher Wincovitch and wife Sandra of Lewisberry, and Michael Wincovitch of Taylor; her sister, Omie Price of Taylor; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, the Jack Harrington family: Larry, Jane, Richard, Gaye, Kenny and Jean Harrington, the William Price family: Mario & Karen Godino, Tommy, Beverly and David Price, the Jeff Harrington family: Tim & Lynn Kelly, Patrick & Lori Jarman, the Stonewall “Sparky” Harrington family: Lisa, Mike, Scott and Kevin Harrington.
Brothers, Stonewall (Sparky), Jack and Jeff Harrington, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank Sacred Heart’s entire staff for the care and compassion shown to them throughout Sara’s stay.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at 1:00PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 401 West Grove Street in Taylor, to be celebrated by Rev. Norm Demming, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Taylor.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 11:00AM-1:00PM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, care of 401 W. Grove St., Taylor, Pa., 18517.
