Obituaries

Martin Robert Salamida, 92, died on Thursday evening at Mountain View Care Center after a long illness.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late Mayme and John Salamida, he was a veteran of World War 2, a graduate of Keystone College, and owner/operator of Marty’s Appliance Service. He was a member of the First Welsh Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mary (Evans) Salamida; four children: Susan Salamida Henderson, Binghamton, NY; John Salamida, Carbondale, CO; Lori Salamida, Philadelphia, PA; Chris Salamida, Pittsburgh, PA; seven grandchildren, and sister, Norma Mecca, Dunmore. Another sister, Pauline Salamida, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21st, at 11 a.m. at the United Baptist Church, 213 S. Main Ave. Scranton, officiated by the Rev. Paul Fields. Interment will follow in a family plot at the Dunmore Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
