Leonard (Lenny) Schlau, age 59, a resident of The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Tuesday morning at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Brigid Schlau, on July 22nd.
Born on July 23, 1956, son of Eleanor Weinstein Schlau of Tamarac, Florida, and the late Israel Schlau, Lenny worked as a Corrections Officer for the City of New York at Rikers Island. Loved by his family and friends, he’ll be forever missed.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Nicole, Winona, Minnesota.; and Jaime, at home; his siblings, Richard Schlau and wife Denise of Bethel, N.Y.; Lawrence Schlau and wife Jane of Buffalo, N.Y.; and Stephanie Schnur and husband Bruce of Melville, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sydney Schlau.
Memorial services will be announced. Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Memorial contributions may be made in Lenny’s name to the American Cancer Society, 712 South Keyser Avenue, Taylor, PA., 18517.
