Ann Moletsky, age 95, a longtime West Scranton resident, died Thursday morning at Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, John M. Moletsky, on September 1, 1993.
Born in Sturges on April 5, 1920, daughter of the late Michael and Anna Stracka Osif, Ann was a graduate of the former Holy Ghost High School in Olyphant. Along with raising her loving family, prior to her retirement she served as the bookkeeper for her family’s business, Moletsky’s Service Center Inc. of West Scranton for many years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, but her favorite pastime came in spending time with her family. Never refusing an opportunity to babysit, she adored being with her grandchildren. Ann will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Of Roman Catholic faith and a member of the former St. David’s Church, she was a current member of St. Patrick’s Parish.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Valenches, at home; her son, Michael Moletsky, Sr., and wife Judy of Clarks Summit; her brother, Frank Osif and wife Clare of Clarks Summit; her five grandchildren, Michael Moletsky, Jr., and wife Michelle of Clarks Summit, Mark Moletsky and wife Shannon of Clarks Summit, Paul Moletsky and wife Beverly of Scranton, Brian Moletsky of Scranton, and Fritz Valenches of Scranton; four great grandchildren, Michael, Corey, Lexie and Paige Moletsky; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Moletsky of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, John Moletsky; brothers, Elmer and John Osif; and sisters, Mary Cooney and Helen Havrilla, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Regional Hospital, especially 8-east, along with Drs. Glen Digwood and Will Speicher for the care and compassion bestowed upon them during this difficult time.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 8:45AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2-5:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s name to St. Patrick’s Food Pantry, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, PA., 18504.
