Paul Keenan, age 37, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, died Sunday.
Born on June 9, 1978, son of John (Jack) and Paula Heppler Keenan of Scranton, Paul was a graduate of Scranton High School before attending Kutztown University. Working in the restaurant business, he served as the manager of Denny’s, Wilkes Barre, and formerly worked as a member of Ruby Tuesday’s New Store Opening Team. He was an amazing cook who could whip something together with whichever ingredients were available. A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he was also a Star Trek fanatic, having held an administration position for the fan club’s website. He possessed a big heart, a sarcastic sense of humor and an ability to make friends like no other. Passing away Sunday evening at the home of his parents, he will be forever missed by all of his relatives and friends.
He is also survived by his sister, Kristin Krowiak and husband Kevin of Throop; his brothers, John Keenan of Peckville and Ryan Keenan of Rabat, Morocco; his adored niece and nephews, Meghan Keenan, John Michael Keenan and Jack Krowiak; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Helen Samuel Keenan; and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Sally McGuire Heppler.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:15AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton. Private interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-7:00PM at the funeral home. With regards to his love for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA., 18411.
