Catherine Maxaner, 75, a lifelong resident of Milford, died Wednesday, July 15th.
Born in 1940 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles Middlebury and Dora Huther Maxaner. A business and political consultant, Catherine was active both locally and nationally in politics, historic preservation, and conservation. A long time member of the Women’s National Republican Club, Catherine served on the board of directors, most recently as 1st Vice President. She was the catalyst behind getting the clubhouse on the National Historic Registar as well as laying groundwork for suffragist Henrietta Wells Livermore induction into the Women’sHall of Fame. A liaison to the National Federation of Republican Women, Catherine was deeply committed to the organizational values of the Pike County and Pennsylvania Republican Women serving as a member, officer, and delegate.
Surviving are her daughter, Madonna Maxaner-Radcliff, and husband, Anthony, and grandchildren, Anna and Maxaner.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 10th at 11 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 111 E. High Street, Milford, PA followed by a reception.
