Michael J. Barchak, 46, a resident of Old Forge, died Saturday in Scranton.
Born Feb. 6, 1969 in Scranton, son of Margaret Nee Miles, Old Forge, and the late John Miles, Michael attended Scranton Technical High School and was of the Roman Catholic faith. A talented painter and carpenter, he was previously employed as a printer by Herff Jones, Scott Twp. and was a social member of the De Rosa-Orzalek VFW Post 4954, Old Forge.
A loving father, son, brother and grandfather, Michael was known as a hard worker and a very detailed and meticulous painter and carpenter. He enjoyed laughter and had a passion for music. Loved by everyone who knew him, he will be deeply missed.
Surviving are his children, Melinda McNally, Kaela Barchak and Kyle Barchak, all of Scranton; and Michael Barchak Jr., a student in Florida; siblings, Joseph Barchak, Old Forge; James Olfano and Melissa Miles, Scranton; and John Olfano, Texas; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A blessing service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Passionist priests of St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment, private at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
