Robert F. Klein, age 82, of New Milford, returned to the Lord on the evening of June 29, 2015. Born on November 16, 1932, son of the late William M. Klein and Monica M. Laukaitis Klein. Robert graduated from the former Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1951, and Johnson Technical School as a Tool and Die Maker in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. His career included Capital Records, Old Forge Tool and Die, Lockheed Electronics, and IBM. He was co-founder of several businesses that received national recognition. Upon retirement from IBM after 30 years, he spent most of his free time with his family and friends. His greatest joy was his sons and their families, especially following his grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Robert was blessed with many talents, including vision that allowed him to see solutions where others only saw problems. He was an avid marksman, wood worker, gardener, mechanic, and solver of crossword puzzles. While he could carve anything out of a block of wood, repair any machine, make anything grow, and build without blueprints, he was a faithful and humble man. He was uncompromising in his values and had a deep respect for the Lord.
He is survived by his two sons, John Klein and wife Bonnie Lee of Susquehanna, and Lackawanna County Deputy District Attorney Robert Klein and wife Kelly-Jo of New Milford; a brother, William E. and Polly V. Klein of New Madison, Ohio, aunts Irene Armstrong of Clarks Summit, Agnes Klein of Greenville, Ohio; several grandsons and granddaughters: John J., Robert J., Olivia Y., Nicholas D., Kirsten Y., Ryan J., and Alexander W. Klein and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne A. Ensminger Klein, in April 1983; son, William J. Klein in August 2012; and sister-in-law Shirley M. Ensminger in December 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 AM, Monday, July 6, 2015, at St. Martin of Tours Church in Jackson, PA, to be celebrated by Father Dave Cramer. Entombment with full military rites by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Johnson City, New York.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue in Scranton. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2015.
