Leona M. Clark, age 95, a resident of Mountain View Care Center and formerly of Dickson City, passed away Sunday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Clark, Jr., on November 6, 2009.
Born in Evansville, Indiana, on August 11, 1919, and daughter of the late William and Irene Gassier Frankenberger, she attended Lasalle University. A member of the National Catholic Community Service (NCCS), she also belonged to the Women’s International Bowling Congress and the WWII City and State Victory and Display Committees. She was a florist, having worked for both Creedon’s and Conwell’s Florists of Scranton, prior to her retirment. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of Saint Patrick’s Parish in West Scranton. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by two step sons, Glenn Clark and wife Valerie of Scranton and Jay Clark and wife Susan of Fairfield, Ohio; a sister, Irene Gansmann of Evansville, Indiana; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were siblings, Harold, Frederick, William, Herman and Stanley Frankenberger, and Mildred Erbacher.
Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Mountain View Care Center for the tremendous care given to Leona while under their care.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 11:00AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese’s Parish, 64 Davis Street in Shavertown, to be celebrated by Rev. James Paisley, Pastor. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday between 10-11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will be Friday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Evansville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leona’s name to Saint Patrick’s Food Pantry, 1403 Jackson Street in Scranton, 18504. Please visit the funeral home’s website for directions or to leave an online condolence.
