Obituaries

Kathleen Weiksner Christmas, age 64, recently of Carbondale and formerly a lifelong Scranton resident, passed away Friday morning at home.
Born on June 17, 1951, daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Pucher Weiksner, Kathleen was a 1969 graduate of Scranton Technical High School before earning her Bachelors Degree in Human Resources. For years, she worked in the human resource department of Liz Claiborne, Inc., and upon retirement, she worked for Penn Foster. An animal lover, she volunteered at numerous shelters throughout her life. She was kind, caring and compassionate, and will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her beloved companion, Ted Frutchey, with whom she resided; her brother, Kenneth Weiksner and wife Anne Marie of Scranton; a nephew, Michael Weiksner of Dover, New Hampshire; and nieces, Samantha and Amy Weiksner, both of Scranton.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Lori Williams, M.D., for the years of tremendous primary care given to Kathleen.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00AM at Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street in West Scranton, to be conducted by Rev. Francis Landry, C.P., Pastor of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, S. Abington Twp., 18411. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
