Sheron Moran, age 72, a longtime resident of Scranton, passed away Sunday morning in the V.N.A. Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph J., Sr., and June Winwood Moran, Sheron was a graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1961. She had served as an X-Ray Technician at State Hospital and also worked for the Visitation Nurse Association and more recently, as a meat inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish, West Scranton. Sheron was a longtime volunteer for Voluntary Action Center’s Christmas Bureau. An avid reader, she was also a member of Marywood University’s Lifelong Learning Institute. A beloved sister, aunt, relative and friend, Sheron will be forever missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her sister, Deborah Peterson and husband John of Clarks Summit; her brother-in-law, Jerry Coyne of Southport, North Carolina; her nephews, Jake Peterson and Jerome Coyne; and her niece, Jocelyn Johnson. Great niece, Ava and great nephews, Eric, Quinn and Rio Johnson. A brother, Joseph J. Moran, Jr., and a sister, June Coyne, also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to acknowledge the entire staff of V.N.A. Hospice as well as her dear friends, Charlotte Ware and Marie Walsh who collectively provided Sheron comfort throughout her illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, June 13th, at 9:30AM in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1605 Oram Street in Scranton. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 9:00AM until Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sheron’s name to either Christmas Holiday Bureau, Voluntary Action Center, 829 Jefferson Avenue, Scranton, 18510, or to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, 301 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, 18447. Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
