Diane M. Sepanek, age 71, a lifelong resident of the Minooka section of Scranton, passed away Sunday morning at home.
Born on July 9, 1943, daughter of the late Walter “Eddie” and Clare Wzorek Sepanek, Diane was a 1961 graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School, South Scranton. As a nurse’s aide, she worked for Mercy Hospital, and more recently, worked for Allied Services, both of Scranton. Of deep Catholic faith and an avid Catholic Channel viewer, she was a devoted member of Divine Mercy Parish, Minooka.
An animal lover, she adored her cats, and she also enjoyed both embroidering and gardening. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by her sister, Joanne Lucarelli of Duryea; her sister-in-law, Gayle Sepanek of Moosic; her nieces, Karen Piccolini and husband Louis of Old Forge and Anna Lucarelli of Cresco; her nephews, Carl Lucarelli and wife Rose of Old Forge and Jack Sepanek and wife Katie of Moosic; and great nieces and great nephews.
Her brother, John (Jack) Sepanek, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Thursday at 10:00AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Church, 312 Davis Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 9:00-10:00AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Diane’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 969 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., 18411.
