Anna M. O’Neill, age 76, an 8-year resident of Moscow, passed away Monday at home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Vincent J. O’Neill, on June 7, 2008.
Born in Bronx, New York, on June 29, 1938, daughter of the late Michael and Rose Cochran O’Brien, Anna was a graduate of Roosevelt High School before attending Lehman College in the Bronx. She worked for 30 years in Budget Control for the New York City Transit Authority. Prior to her retirement, she spent 15 years employed by the N.Y.C. Board of Education. A longtime member of Our Lady of Refuge Church, Bronx, she was also very active as a Scout Leader and in the Order of the Arrow. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by four daughters, Catherine Miaris and husband George of Moscow, Anna Mary Trent and husband Peter of Valhalla, N.Y., Patricia Jozan and husband George of Thornwood, N.Y., and Grace McAdams and husband Vincent of Long Island, N.Y.; eleven grandchildren, George “Georgie”, Stephen and fiancé Lacey Lenahan, Alexander and Miranda Miaris, Lauren Trent, Julianna Jozan, Kelly McAdams, Charles Catalano, Jennifer Procida, Eugene and Jessica McAdams; and three great grandchildren, Stephen Miaris, Jr., Landon Catalano and Savanna Rose.
Her first husband of 20 years, Charles Haug; her sister, “Sissy” King; and a grandson, Frank Catalano, also preceded her in death.
Blessings services to be conducted by Rev. Joseph Jones, C.P., of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, are scheduled for Friday at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anna’s name to the Greater N.Y. Council Boy’s Scouts of America, 350 5th Avenue #7820, New York, N.Y. 10188.
