Margaret Preno, age 78, of Moosic, passed away Tuesday in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dominick Preno. Wed on February 27, 1960, the couple recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Born in Taylor on October 5, 1936, daughter of the late Kenneth, Sr., and Jessie Staff Dunston, Margaret was a graduate of Old Forge High School. She worked in the local garment industry, formerly employed as a machine operator for Banjo Sportswear in Scranton, prior to her retirement. An amazing cook, she’ll be long remembered for her culinary talents. She also enjoyed crocheting, creating her own patterns, having made nearly 400 scarfs. Her favorite pastime was watching the Game Show Network, especially her favorite show, Jeopardy, as well as her favorite sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. A loving wife, mother and sister, she’ll be dearly missed by her loved ones.
She is also survived by her adoring daughter, Corrine Preno of Scranton; her siblings, Kenneth, Jr., and William Dunston, and Anna Celli, all of Old Forge; and many nieces and nephews.
Her brother, Robert Dunston, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of both Geisinger C.M.C.’s I.C.U. and V.N.A. Hospice for the collective care given to Margaret through her illness.
Memorial services, to be conducted by Rev. Scott Ryan, are scheduled for Tuesday at 1:00PM in the Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
