John Romito, Jr., age 77, of Pocono Lake, and formerly of the Bronx, New York, passed away Monday, May 4th, at home, surrounded by his family, after an illness. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Carroll Romito. Wed on August 30, 1969, the couple were married for 45 years.
Born in Manhattan, New York, on October 2, 1937, John was the son of the late John, Sr., and Mildred Vegliante Romito. Prior to his retirement, he served as warehouse manager for Corner Distributors, Bronx, New York. An avid softball player, he played in many leagues, and was the founder of the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) in the Bronx. Forever remembered for his sense of humor, he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his beloved son, John Romito, III, and wife Laura, at home; his three sisters, Elaine Giordano of Bronx, N.Y., Rose Ann Fulgoni of Thornwood, N.Y., and Peggy Romito of Bronx, N.Y.; an adored grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Blessing services are scheduled for Friday at at 5:00PM in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street in Stroudsburg, to be conducted by Rev. Joseph Kutch of St. Matthews Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may pay their respects between 2-9:00PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., West Scranton.
