John Gustin, age 93, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Sunday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton.
Born on October 1, 1921, son of the late Simon and Lottie Joulwon Gustin, John was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1940. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of John Gustin Vending Company. He was a longtime member of St. Ann Maronite Church in Scranton. An active member of the Elks Lodge, his favorite pastime was playing pinnochle with his fellow members. He was a faithful Republican, active in both local and national politics. Friendly and kind-hearted, he will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Joseph, Charles and George Gustin, Mary Dippre, Bayde Grill, Sadie Tonkin and Mae Stevens.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 10:00AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:30AM Funeral Mass at St. Ann Maronite Church, corner of North Sumner Avenue and Price Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis Marini, Pastor. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 9:00-10:00AM at the funeral home.
His family would like to thank Dr. Anees R. Fogley for the years of tremendous care given to John.
