Obituaries

Mary Grace Lavelle Joyce, age 82, of Baltimore, Maryland, and a 38-year resident of Dallas, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Joyce, on October 29, 2000.
Born in Avoca on June 12, 1932, daughter of the late James and Mary Mangan Lavelle, Mary was a graduate of the former Avoca High School. Along with raising her family, she worked as a cashier at Daring’s Market in Dallas prior to her retirement. Formerly a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish at Harvey’s Lake, Mary was also a member of the Bolton Hill Garden Club and enjoyed camping and crocheting. Loved by many, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her family, three children, James Joyce and wife Mary Jule of Plains, Ellen Joyce, with whom Mary resided, and Mary Winner and husband Charles of Endwell, New York; an ‘adopted daughter,’ Mary Consugar; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and her adored cats, Charlie and Isabelle.
Blessing services are scheduled for Thursday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Avoca. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 10AM until services.
