Walter (Wally) D. Cushing, age 63, of Dupont, passed away Saturday at Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Taylor. He is survived by his adoring companion of 29 years, Josephine Wells of Pittston.
Born in Pittston on February 26, 1952, he was the son of the later Walter and Loretta Satkowski Cushing. Wally was a 1970 graduate of Pittston Area High School before working as a dress maker for Lee Manufacturing of Pittston. Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Dupont. He was also an active social member of the Polish Club, the Lithuanian Club and the V.F.W., Post 4909, of Dupont. A football fan, he rooted for both the Penn State Nittany Lions and Green Bay Packers, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and singing karaoke. Never forgotten, he will be dearly missed.
He is also survived by a son, Walter D. Cushing of Dupont; a daughter, Dana Pedley and husband George of Pittston; a step son, Albert Wells and wife Christina of Pittston; cousin and caregiver, Christine Wilson of Duryea; seven grandchildren and a loving extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled Saturday, April 11th, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Avenue in Dupont, to be celebrated by Rev. Joseph D. Verespy, Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so from 9:30AM until Mass.
