Margaret J. Speck, age 79, of the Minooka section of Scranton and formerly of Moosic, passed away Wednesday at Commonwealth Hospice of Regional Hospital in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Speck, Jr., on June 14, 1988.
Born in Pittston on June 22, 1935, Margaret was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy King Morgan. She had worked for Parodi Cigar Co. and Consolidated Molding Products before retiring from Brooks Manufacturing. Of Roman Catholic faith, she attended Queen of the Apostle’s Church in Avoca. An animal lover, she especially adored her dogs. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Jones of Duryea; her six nephews and nieces, godson George Jones and wife Annette of Duryea, William Jones and wife Sharon of Avoca, David Jones and wife Lorraine of Duryea, Alice Haduck and husband John of Duryea, Valerie Watson and husband Joseph of Dickson City, and Robert Jones and wife Barbara of Exeter; and twenty great nieces and great nephews.
Her companion, Elmer Westover, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank both Drs. Lisa Thomas and Thomas Minora for the years of exceptional care they each had given to Margaret.
Private blessing service arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
