Peter N. Mickulick, 50, a resident of Scranton, died Saturday at home.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., he was the son of the late Peter and Florence Decker Mickulick. Educated in Edison schools, he worked for the Edison Department of Public Works before moving to Scranton. Peter attended the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church and was very active with Alcoholics Anonymous, where he even mentored a few participants.
Known affectionately as “Big Pete” to all of his friends and “Uncle Pete” to his little cousins, he was a very caring and generous person. He sometimes put his own well-being aside if he knew a stranger needed a helping hand. Peter loved animals and Harley-Davidsons. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are several cousins, aunts and uncles, among them, his closest family, Keith and Sylvia Gruber and their children, of Pittston.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Greg Mickulick.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, 825 Green Ridge St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. David Twiss, pastor.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., Scranton. Memorial contributions may be made in Peter’s name to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
