Andrew J. Topa, 58, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Wednesday at home.
Born Dec. 11, 1956, in Scranton, son of the late Michael and Marie Snyder Topa, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and was currently employed by the Scranton School District in the maintenance department. Andrew was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, West Scranton.
Andrew was a loving father and grandfather who was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are two daughters, Kristen Minella and husband, James, Old Forge; and Katie Topa and companion, Billy VanWert, Dunmore; a son, Andrew Topa, Dickson City; a brother, Bernard Topa, Scranton; three grandchildren, Colin Topa and Kathleen and Kason Minella; and several nieces and nephews.
Andrew was also preceded in death by two sisters, Maryann Topa and Jean Primich; and two brothers, Michael and Gary Topa.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Krawontka. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New York Chapter of the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association, 244 Fifth Ave., Suite D-110, New York City, NY 10001.
