James (Jim) Spangenberg, 56, of Avoca, died Friday at Moses Taylor Hospital, after an illness. Son of the former Regina Swingle and Hawley Spangenberg, Jim committed his life to raising his nephews, Alan and Kevin. He touched the lives of all who met him. He enjoyed dancing, singing, playing guitar and arguing politics, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was very loved and will be missed by all, especially his niece, Tammy.
He is also survived by brothers, Danny and Alvin Spangenberg.
Memorial services by Rev. James Wert are scheduled for Saturday, February 28th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue in Scranton.
