Obituaries

Catherine (Kay) M. Ulbrich passed away on December 11, 2014 at the age of 98, surrounded by her three loving daughters, Patricia Flath of Lake Clear, New York, Mary Lou Rappaport and Noreen Smith of Orlando, Florida. She was born on February 17, 1916, in the Minooka section of Scranton. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Laurence (Larry) Ulbrich in 1969, her parents George and Nora Mahady Frye, her four brothers and sisters, and her dearest friend Sara Grace. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by six grandchildren, William Misata, Kelley Nybakken, Kimberlie Daugherty, Philip Flath, Heidi Klaus, and David Wheeler, eight precious great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a daughter-in-law, Bev Stellges. She was a long time member of the former Blessed Sacrament Church and its Women’s Guild of Johnson City, New York, and former member and officer of the Binghamton Lioness Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for friday, January 23rd, at 3:00PM at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine’s name to Good Shepherd Living Care Fund of Binghamton, New York.
Local arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge.
