Catherine (Kitty) M. Jeffers Brady, age 85, of Taylor, passed away Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald J. Brady, on August 28, 2009.
Born on April 7, 1929, daughter of the late William and Mary Barry Jeffers, she was raised in the Minooka section of Scranton. Catherine was a graduate of the former Minooka High School, before raising her adoring family. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Taylor and the Church of St. Joseph in Scranton, now Divine Mercy Parish. She adored her family and was proud of their accomplishments. Her favorite pastime was taking walks throughout Taylor with her best friend of over sixty years Sophie Neishell. Adored by those who loved her, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her four children, daughters, Colleen and Kathleen Brady, both of Taylor, and sons, Charles Brady and wife Marilyn of Fairfax, Virginia, and Joseph Brady and wife Gail of Vienna, Virginia; her brother, Martin (Buddy) Jeffers and wife Frances of Broomall; four beloved grandchildren, Erin, Michele, James and Jenna, and four great grandchildren, Christopher, Chase, Connor and Emerson; and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Thomas, Ray and Jack Jeffers; and sisters, Helen Kelly, Margaret Jeffers, and Jean Murphy, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank Drs. Glenn Buyo and Scott Rieder; the Neishell and Pendergast families; and all of Catherine’s Harrison Street neighbors for many years of collective love, care and support.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Thursday at 9:15AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Church, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery, Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Catherine’s name to Allied Services Foundation, 100 Abington Executive Park, Clarks Summit, PA., 18411.
