Helen Barnoski, age 95, a lifelong resident of Taylor, died Christmas Day while at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Barnoski, on November 16, 1970.
Born on April 27, 1919, daughter of the late Stephen and Pauline Tokarcuk Churnock, Helen attended Taylor High School. Along with raising her family, she had worked for both Scranton Dry Goods and ACME Fast Freight prior to retirement. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish in South Scranton, where she had been very active. In her younger years, her favorite pastime came in spending time with her dear friends. Passing away with her son, Ron, and daughter-in-law , Terry, by her side, she is now at peace.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Barnoski and wife Rita Teresa (Terry) Metcalf of Shavertown and Richard Barnoski and wife Regina of Taylor; her brother, Fred Churnock of Taylor; and two grandsons, Richard, Jr., and Jonathan.
A brother, Frank Churnock, also preceded her in death.
A private Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Scott Sterowski, Pastor, will be held at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, South Scranton, with interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli for the trememdous care he’d given to Helen throughout the years.
