William M. Condon, age 74 of Old Forge, passed away Sunday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Pronovich Condon. Wed on September 16, 1967, the couple were married for 47 years.
Born in Taylor on October 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Francis and Celia Habgood Condon. A graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1958, he then attended the University of Scranton. Originally working alongside his father at Frank Condon Plumbing, he would retire as a plumber for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was an active member of the American Legion Post 306 of Taylor. He enjoyed both daily crossword puzzles and fishing. For years, he and his friends took an annual deep sea fishing trip to Belmar, New Jersey. He will be forever missed.
He is survived by his three daughters, Hope Cadden and husband Michael of Pittston, Catherine Franko and husband Drew of Falls and Bridget Heck and husband Eddie of West Wyoming; a sister, Mary Gehringer of Allentown; three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Patrick Cadden and Alexandra Franko; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Jean Boyko, also preceded him in death.
Forever grateful, his family wishes to thank all of those who had given such special care to Bill throughout his illness.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 620 South Main Street in Old Forge, to be concelebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay and Rev. August Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
