Obituaries

Layla Cornell, the beautiful daughter of George, IV, and Sophia DeLeon Cornell of the Minooka section of Scranton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday. She was just two and a half months old.
Born at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton on October 3rd, despite her short time with us all, she touched the lives of many. Although no longer physically with those who deeply loved her, she’ll remain with them as their guardian angel forever.
She is also survived by her brother, Nicoll Cornell of Scranton; her maternal grandparents, Dawn Martin of Scranton and Rafael DeLeon of Puerto Rico; her paternal grandmother, Tammy Scott of Scranton; her uncles and aunt, Josh Cornell, Richard Martin and wife Jasmine and Samantha DeLeon, all of Scranton; and cousins.
Her paternal grandfather, George Cornell, III, preceded her in death.
Memorial services are to be conducted by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Divine Mercy Parish Pastor, and are scheduled for Saturday, December 27th, at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 10AM until services.
