Robert A. Hines, age 72, of Old Forge, died Wednesday in the Commonwealth Hospice Unit of Regional Hospital, Scranton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Wolfe Hines, with whom he celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary on June 1st.
Born on April 24, 1942, and a graduate of the former West Pittston High School, Class of 1961, Robert worked for over 15 years for Topps Chewing Gum Co., before retiring from Hillcrest Lampshade Factory. A longtime member of the Brick United Methodist Church in Duryea, he was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. A college football fan, he rooted for both the PSU Nittany Lions and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Family oriented, he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Uhrin and husband Dominick of Old Forge, and Jami Hines of Moosic; his sons, Robert Hines, II, and wife Denise of Thornhurst, and Todd Hines of Exeter; his sisters, Joan Martin of Pittston Twp., and Joyce Loureiro and husband Tony of Taylor; his brothers, Richard Hines and wife Susan of Kingston, Randy Hines of Pittston Twp., and Elwood (Rusty) Hines and wife Cathy of West Pittston; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family wishes to thank the entire staff of Regional Hospital who had cared for Robert throughout his years of illness. They will forever appreciate their kindness.
