Joan C. Edwards, age 81, a 24-year resident of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, passed away Monday evening at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care in Lake Ariel.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 28, 1933, daughter of the late William and Daisy Farquaharson Smith, Joan was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force in 1957 after two years of service. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Corrections Officer for Nassau County Department of Corrections. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Larry Marshall and wife Audrey of Atlanta, Georgia; siblings, Allen Smith of Staten Island and Dolores “Del” Dozier of Queens; many nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren who she raised as children, Lanequa Marshall and Michael Dozier.
A daughter, Karen J. Marshall; and siblings, George, Eric and Raymond Smith, Thelma Gardner, Pearl Smith and Gladys Stewart, also preceded her in death.
Private graveside services will be held on Saturday at the Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead, New York. Arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, 18504.
