William J. (Bubba) Miller, 63, of West Scranton, died Tuesday evening after an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Shipp Clark Miller. The couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on June 26.
Born and raised in South Scranton, he was the son of the late William A. and Helen Berry Miller. A graduate of the former South Catholic High School, he began his career as an orderly at CMC and employee of Kings Department Store. He also worked as a mechanic for the former Price Bus Company until their closure in 1998. Prior to heart ailments, he served as an orderly for the Ambulatory Care Unit of Northeastern Eye Institute, leaving lasting memories with all of his former coworkers who he adored. An outdoorsman, William loved both fishing and camping. His favorite holiday was Halloween and he took pleasure in the annual party given by his wife. He was also a Cincinnati Bengals and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan. His humor, his love for his family, and the positive impression he left on all who had the pleasure of meeting him are all part of the legacy he leaves behind with his loving family. Passing away surrounded by his loving family and his best friend and dog, Louie, on Tuesday night, he is now at peace. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his six children, Dawn Hill and companion, Leonard Chesnaky; Bridget Knoch and husband, Jason; Crystal Clark and companion, Mark Priest; William P. (Snapper) Miller and wife, Stephanie; Jason Clark and companion, Melissa Evans, all of Scranton; and Wayne Clark and fiancée, Dorettah Klinger of Mahanoy City; ten siblings, Ellen Miller, Kathy McLaughlin; Mary Jane Prislupsky and husband, Robert; Betsy Walsh and husband, Jack; Margaret Glancey and husband, Dave; Marion Miller; Thomas Miller and wife, Doreen; Patricia Davis and husband, Ernie; Mara Miller and companion, Rick Mancia; and Ann Gilmartin and husband, Michael; 21 grandchildren who he adored; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Ann Marie Miller Brady, also preceded him in death.
Blessing services will be celebrated Friday at 7 p.m. in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, by the Rev. Joseph Jones, C.P., of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Dunmore, on Saturday, May 23rd, at 10:30AM.
