Bertha Merrifield, age 71, of Jermyn, died Monday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, George Merrifield.
Born in Peckville on January 14, 1943, daughter of the late John, Sr., and Elizabeth Capri Warholic, Bertha was attended the former Archbald High School before beginning to raise her family. A member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Archbald, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother to her darling grandson, Nicholas Travis, she will forever be remembered for her great humor.
She is also survived by her daughters, Antoinette Merrifield and Elizabeth Ann Jumper and husband Robert, all of Jermyn; her adoring grandson, Nicholas Travis Warholic; her siblings, Thomas, Robert, Charles, Michael and William Warholic, and Nancy Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Theodore, Richard and John (Babe) Warholic, Jr., also preceded her in death.
A blessing service by Rev. Christopher Sahd will be celebrated on Monday at 5:00PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from the conclusion of services until 8:00PM.
