Rev. Larry R. Magor, Jr., age 75, of Old Forge, died Monday morning at home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Gambal Magor. The coupled celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on June 3rd.
Born in Scott Twp. on April 8, 1939, son of the late Lawrence, Sr., and Dorothy Demming Magor, Larry graduated from the former Scott Twp. High School, Class of 1957, before earning his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Wilkes College. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he worked as a music teacher for the Old Forge School District for 30 years. Serving as both the head of the marching and band units as well as the musical director, he touched the lives of many throughout his extensive career in education.
Upon retirement, he earned a degree in Bible Training from Rhema Bible Training College of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A member of the Victory Fellowship on Ministries, he formerly served as Pastor of the Word Fellowship Church in Old Forge. Leaving behind a legacy of church, family and music, Larry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed.
He is also survived by his loving daughter, Erika Weber and husband Rev. Keith of Old Forge; two adoring grandchildren, Morgan and Zachary Weber of Old Forge; and additional family, Stacy Oakley and husband Mark, and her children, Monica and Mark; an aunt, Ruth Deats of Scott Twp.; and a nephew, Robert Magor of Old Forge.
A sister, Dorothy (Dottie) Magor, also preceded him in death.
His family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at every medical facility he attended for their collective care and kindness.
Funeral services to be conducted by Rev. Keith Weber, Larry’s son-in-law, are scheduled for Thursday at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Burial will follow in the Old Forge Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the Triboro Christian Academy, which was created from Larry’s own vision during his days as Word Fellowship Pastor, c/o 100 South Main Street, Old Forge, PA., 18518.
