Obituaries

Dorothy Guariglia, age 87, of Old Forge, died Tuesday evening at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Guariglia, on July 15, 2005.
Born in Taylor on December 13, 1926, daughter of the late John and Mary Pehanic Metro, Dorothy was a graduate of the former Taylor High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamsress in the local garment industry. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge. A member of the Old Forge Senior Citizens, her greatest memories were those of traveling to all distances with her husband, prior to his passing. She will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her adoring grandchildren, Lyndsay and Ryan Sopp; her son-in-law, Ronald Sopp, all of Old Forge; her sister, Madeline Metro of Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Her daughter, Deborah Sopp, who passed away on April 10th; brothers, Robert, John, Edward and Joseph Metro; and sisters, Clare Kashuba and Mary Lisowski, also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to thank Linwood’s staff for the care given to Dorothy during her stay.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment will follow in Old Forge Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
