Myra (Kiki) Maconeghy, age 76, of West Scranton, died Sunday under the care of the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. Born on September 12, 1938 and daughter of the late Leroy and Dorothy Wescott Jackson, Myra was a graduate of the Hoyt School of Nursing. Prior to raising her family, she worked as an assistant at St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in South Scranton. A loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be forever missed by her adoring family.
She is survived by her four children, Theresa Maconeghy of Scranton, Donna Corbin and husband Scott of Fredericksburg, and David and Archie Maconeghy and wife Holly, all of Florida; her three siblings, Rita Shipman of Virginia, Leo Jackson and wife Eleanor of Scranton, and Gordon Jackson of Delaware; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harry Jackson; and her sister, Pauline Craven.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to both the staff of VNA Hospice and Myra’s longtime physician, Dr. Wasique Mirza, for their tremendous care and compassion.
Funeral services to are scheduled for Thursday at 5:00PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 1:00PM until services. Private interment, Archbald Cemetery.
