Laura Fahey, age 77, of Old Forge, died Tuesday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Edward Fahey, on December 20, 2000.
Born on July 24, 1937 and raised in Old Forge, Laura was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella Cavallaro Palumbo. She worked as a seamstress at the former Brooks Manufacturing prior to her retirement. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Old Forge. An avid gardener who was well-known for her sewing talents, she was also an excellent cook and baker. Family-oriented, she was a loving woman who will be dearly missed by her adoring family and dear friends.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Fahey of Hampton, Virginia, Brian Fahey of Old Forge, and Bruce Fahey and wife Nancy of Exeter; her granddaughter, Loni Carlin; her step-granddaughter, Mariah Volch; a great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were siblings, Frank, Daniel, Patrick and Michael Palumbo, Louise Yarema and Angie Gatto.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 620 Main Street in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
