Patrick J. Langan, CPA, age 68, of Moosic and formerly of West Scranton, died Saturday at home. Born in Moosic on February 28, 1946, he was the son of the late William and Helen Salmon Langan. After graduating from the former St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, he attended Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Later becoming a Certified Public Accountant, he worked as the accountant for Hotel Jermyn in Scranton. For over 25 years before falling ill, he was the owner and operator of Langan’s Pub in West Scranton. An avid golfer, he was a Knight of Columbus and former member of Queen of Apostles Parish in Avoca.
Known as “Pat” to friends and “P.J.” to family, he was good listener and loyal friend whose favorite expression was, “Just take one day at a time.” He will be greatly missed.
His family would like to especially thank Dr. Robert W. Kaville for the tremendous care given to Pat throughout the years as a patient.
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Janet Langan of Moosic, and Mona Sheppard and husband Robert of Clarks Summit; his loving companion of over 40 years, Betty Eiden of Scranton; nieces; several cousins, and several dear friends, including Helga Phau and Dorothy Spindler, both of Moosic.
A sister, Erin Langan, also preceded him in death.
Blessing services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
