Patricia Holland Amato, R.N., age 62, of Old Forge, passed away Friday evening at home. Born in Taylor on April 13, 1952, daughter of the late Joseph and Nell Samsock Holland, Patricia was a graduate of Riverside High School. A graduate of the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing, she also received both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees of Nursing from Misericordia University. She earned a certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from the American Nurses’ Association. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Taylor prior to its closing. An adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren, Patty will be forever missed by all of her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughters, Cate Makarczyk and husband Brent of Nanticoke and Brandi Amato-Ziegler and husband William of Columbia, North Carolina; her siblings, Rosemary Cencetti of Old Forge, Joseph Holland and wife Donna of Scranton, Atty. John (Cosmo) Holland of Mechanicsburg, James Holland and wife Beverly of Moosic and Michael Holland and wife Susan of Old Forge; three grandchildren, Amara “Sunshine” and Brenden “Buddy” Makarczyk and Sophia Madison Ziegler; and many nieces and nephews.
Blessing services to be celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Divine Mercy Pastor, are scheduled for Thursday, August 21st, at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, August 20th, between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
