Mark A. Bueche, age 61, of Moosic, passed away Saturday under the care of Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA at Regional Hospital in Scranton. He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Smith Bueche. Wed on August 21, 1977, the couple were married for 36 years.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 4, 1952, and son of the late Lawrence D. and Thelma F. Simmerman Bueche, Mark attended the University of Akron before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Having served in Germany where he met his eventual wife, he earned numerous awards for his service, including the Good Conduct Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Army Commendation Medal; Expert Qualification Badge; Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
A cook by trade, he worked for Via Appia in Taylor; La Cucina in Dunmore; and in the Food and Nutrition Department of Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. An avid traveler who enjoyed fishing, he was a die-hard fan of Riverside Vikings football. A longtime and active member of the Moosic United Methodist Church, Mark served on the church’s board of trustees and SPPRC, as well as acting as fundraising chairman and cooking at all fundraisers. A loving husband, father and brother, he will be dearly missed.
He is also survived by his adoring son, Lawrence (Larry) Bueche of Moosic; his siblings, Jeffrey Bueche of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Nancy Kloha of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Emily Arcolino of Mountain View, California; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s name to either Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., 18411, or to the Moosic United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 10:00AM in the Moosic United Methodist Church, 609 Main Street, Moosic, to be conducted by Rev. Donald B. Perry, Pastor. Interment will full military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-8:00PM at theThomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
