James (Jimmy) Joseph Talarico, age 52, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, died Saturday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an accident at work. He is survived by his beloved wife, best friend, and childhood sweetheart since age 15, Denise Frati Talarico. Wed on June 19, 1982, the couple was married for 32 years.
Born on April 19, 1962, son of the late Earl Talarico and Gerry Carey Talarico of Old Forge, Jimmy was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1980. For many years, he and his brother Earl served as owners of his family’s business, the former Family Affair Restaurant, in Taylor. Most recently, he and Earl continued to work side by side, owning and operating their own construction business in Old Forge. An avid golfer, he was proud of winning the 1999 Glenmaura Golf Club Championship. Jimmy was an devoted father, husband, son and brother who leaves his legacy of love and loyalty behind to his family and friends. He’ll be forever missed . He was very fond of animals, but his dog, Toby, had a special place in his heart. Jimmy was a talented cook, and he had a passion for preparing meals for his family and many friends.
Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea.
He is also survived by his loving daughters, Jade, Jewel and Rubi Talarico; his brother, Earl Talarico and wife Kathy; his father and mother-in-law, Emil and Ginger Frati, all of Old Forge; sisters-in-law, Marianne Francis and husband, Jack, Old Forge, and Sandi Giacometti and husband Jim, Clarks Summit; brother-in-law David Frati, Old Forge; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.
A sister, Karen Lepkowski, preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at noon in Holy Rosary Church at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street in Duryea, to be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Sinnott, Pastor. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge. Those wishing to attend the funeral are asked to go directly to church as viewing will be private.
