Roger F. Anderson, age 64, of Laflin, passed away Friday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Twp. after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 29, 1949, son of the late Frederick and Ruth Logan Anderson, Roger was employed as a salesman for Bajan Group, based out of Latham, New York. A devoted father and grandfather, Roger enjoyed spending countless hours with his son and family. Roger loved the moments spent entertaining and caring for his grandchild; they will miss him dearly. An active sportsman, Roger enjoyed playing rounds of golf and racquetball games. He enjoyed the beach and regularly spent time in both Key West, Florida, and Ocean City, Maryland. Roger will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Roger R. Anderson and wife Lynn and his grandchildren, Addison and Ethan Anderson, all of Kingston; his companion, Dee Dee Hunsberger of Coopersburg; his former wife, Diane Matyas Anderson of Moosic; his sister, Virginia of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.A brother, Robert Anderson, also preceded him in death.
His family would like to thank the entire staff of the Pearsall Heart Hospital at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for the care taken of Roger throughout his stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive in Laflin, to be celebrated by Msgr. Neil J. Van Loon, Pastor. Private interment, St. George’s Parish Cemetery, Taylor.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 9:00AM until services at the church. The church’s Rosary Group will conduct a rosary service at 9:30AM.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s name to either the American Heart Association, 613 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes Barre, 18702, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
