Robert J. Russo, age 58, of Lake Ariel, passed away Memorial Day under the care of the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Aida Russo.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 4, 1955, son of Mary Ragonese Russo, Robert led a career in security. He worked at Rikers Island Prison, for Homeland Security and most recently at Pocono Springs, prior to his illness. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus – Lake Ariel Council, and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, woodworking and boxing. He’ll be long remembered for his sense of humor, and he’ll also leave behind his adoring dog, Winkey. Robert will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his three sons, Anthony and Chris Russo, both of Lake Ariel, and Daniel Quinones and wife Marcia of Phillipsport, New York; siblings, Donald, Denise and Roberta; two grandchildren, Madison and Elisia; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Gina Russo, also preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday between noon and 2:00PM at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, West Scranton.
