Edward “Eddie” Battenberg, 36, of Scranton, died Sunday morning at home.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Sandra Gething Battenberg, Scranton, and the late Armine Battenberg. A 1996 graduate of Scranton High School, he was employed as a baker at Krispy Kreme, Moosic Street, Scranton for over 10 years, and most recently by Bulldog Maintenance. He was a member of the Nativity Social Club and attended AA meetings which helped him reach a milestone of three years of sobriety.
A loving son, brother, uncle, and godfather, he enjoyed spending time with his nephews and nieces, and had a special place in his heart for his goddaughter, Brittany, whom he affectionately called “Baby Girl”. He was an avid New York Giants fan, and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Surviving are his brother, William Battenberg, Bellingham, WA; two sisters, Kimberly Stout, Thornhurst, and Tracy Powell, Scranton; fiancée, Theresa Petroziello Battenberg; several nieces and nephews; and his two best friends, brother-in-law, Scott Powell, and Ray Knight.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Armine “Duane” Battenberg, III on June 3, 2013.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on Thursday at 8 PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, to be conducted by the Rev. William Pickard.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 6 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
