Eleanor Cherundolo, age 90, of Old Forge, passed away Friday morning at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Cherundolo.
Born in Taylor on October 12, 1923, daughter of the late Carmen and Anna Maria Talerico Greco, Eleanor was a graduate of both Old Forge High School and the Lackawanna Business School. Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated Jimmy’s Market, Old Forge, alongside her husband. A loving mother, sister, relative and friend, she will be dearly missed.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge.
She is survived by her son, Robert Cherundolo, with whom she resided; her sister, Loretta Garrity of Moosic; and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, William “Wimpy”, Frank, Anthony and Fred Greco; and sisters, Jennie Pettinato, Irene Lupia and Dr. Ann Marie Greco, also preceded her in death.
Her son wishes to thank the staff of Mountain View Care Center for the excellent care given to his mother during her stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 9:30AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s name the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 57 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, 18701.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
