Obituaries

Don R. Rodgers, age 85, of Duryea, died Saturday at Geisinger – Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 63 years, Mary (Nell) Smith Rodgers, on February 28, 2009.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, on April 15, 1929, son of the late Horace and Stella Gentry Rodgers, Don was a lifelong electrical worker, serving as both a lineman and a foreman during his career. Retiring in Colorado, he eventually moved to Duryea to live with his son. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son and caregiver, Don A. Rodgers and fiance Connie White, with whom he resided; his daughter, Deidre Gahan and husband Mark of Davisburg, Michigan; a grandson, Christopher Rodgers; and three great granddaughters.
A brother, Leslie Rodgers, also preceded him in death.
His family would like to thank Dr. James Tricarico, as well as the entire staffs of Linwood Nursing Center, Celtic Hospice and Geisinger – Wyoming Valley Hospital, for all the care given to Don throughout his illness.
Graveside services are scheduled for Friday at 1:00PM in the Marcy Cemetery, Foote Avenue in Duryea.
