Roberta (Bobbee) Ferrett, R.N., age 78, of Old Forge, died Friday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Ferrett, Sr. Wed on August 25, 1956, the couple were married for 57 years.
Born in Moosic on September 23, 1935, daughter of the late Robert and Doretta Billington Rauner, Roberta was a graduate of the former Moosic High School, Class of 1953. A graduate of Nesbitt Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing, Roberta was a proud registered nurse, having worked at the former Taylor and Mercy Hospitals before working part-time for Allied Services.
Of Protestant faith, she was a lifelong member of the Moosic Presbyterian Church. An active church member, she also served as an ordained deacon. She found great comfort in her cat, Vino, who always put a smile on her face regardless of her health. Her family the focal point of her life, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be dearly missed forever.
She is also survived by her four children, Michael Ferrett, Jr., and companion Linda Kerlavage of Factoryville, Kathleen Ferrett of Moosic, Tracy Genell and husband Angelo, Sr., of Moosic, and Wendy Sulla and husband Peter of West Pittston; a sister, Muriel Smailes and husband James of Moscow; and seven grandchildren, Michael Ferrett, III, and wife Anastasia, Ashley Genell, Aaron Sulla, Angelo Genell, Jr., Katy Sulla, Austin Genell and Skylar Lavage.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Mark Ferrett.
Her family wishes to thank the One-north staff of Allied Skilled Nursing Center and Doctors, Kenneth Sebastianelli, Carl Barsigian and Michael Burke, for their collective care and compassion throughout Roberta’s illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00AM in the
Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. Roger Griffith. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roberta’s name to the Moosic Presbyterian Church, 625 Main Street in Moosic, 18507.
