Thomas Joseph Kingsley, age 66, of Old Forge, died Friday under the care of the VNA Hospice Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Born in Scranton on October 17, 1947, son of Hilda Fritzen Kingsley, with whom he resided, and the late Robert Kingsley, Sr., Thomas graduated from the former Scranton Central High School, Class of 1965. A 1970 graduate of Kutztown University, earning a degree in education, he served as class president for both his junior and senior years. For over 35 years, he taught both art and photography at West Scranton High School, a position he always cherished having made many lasting friendships and impacting many lives throughout his tenure. He always enjoyed spending time with his fellow retired teachers at their monthly lunch. He was very active in numerous volunteer and philanthropic organizations including the Lackawanna County Historical Society, Genealogical Society of PA and the Lackawaxen Sanctuary. A caring and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in West Scranton.
He is also survived by his siblings, Marge Orr of Taylor, Robert Kingsley, Jr. and wife Frances of Lake Ariel, and Susan Christensen and husband David of Nicholson; an aunt; an uncle; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 12:30PM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 1:00PM Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram Street in West Scranton. Entombment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
