Mark Joseph Popish, age 45, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Friday, April 4th, at home.
Born in Scranton on July 27, 1968, son of Joseph and Geraldine O’Brien Popish of Sturges, Mark was a graduate of the former Bishop Hannan High School. A proud United States Army Veteran of twenty years, he honorably served as an 82nd Airborne Division medic. He defended our country with dignity during Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
A loving father and son who adored his dog, ‘Rio’, he will forever be missed by those who loved him.
He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Alora Mae Popish, and her mother Lisa Popish, both of Fayetteville, North Carolina; his sister, Christine Popish and partner Sera Downing of Palmyra, Virginia; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Mark’s funeral service and committal were privately conducted at the Cathedral Cemetery Chapel.
